For years, digital reports have separated three worlds that people experience as a single journey: search, social media and local presence. Someone might discover a brand on Google through a video, visit its social profile, look for reviews, open a service landing page and eventually call or request directions. Measuring every step in a different tab makes it easy to lose the thread.
Social search helps reconstruct that journey. It does not simply mean “searching inside TikTok”, nor is it a new label for SEO. It is a connected view of how questions, social content, profiles, the website and local information contribute to brand discovery.
The change is particularly relevant now that Google Search Console allows platform properties for Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube. Google announced global availability in July 2026 after an initial experiment. The official Search Console guide ↗ explains how to analyse social and video content that appears across Google Search, Discover and Google News.
What has changed in Google Search Console?
A platform property shows how Google sends traffic to a verified social account or channel. Search Console brings the basic questions we already asked of a website to content that lives outside the organisation’s own domain:
- Clicks and impressions from Google.
- Posts, videos or channel pages generating the most discovery.
- Queries that lead people to social content.
- Trends over time, rising or falling content and countries of origin.
- Data from Search and, where applicable, Discover and Google News.
Recent performance can also reveal whether a video or post is starting to gain visibility, helping the team decide whether to develop the topic, adapt it for another channel or strengthen the destination page.
For the first time, we can read part of social discovery through the language of real searches, rather than relying only on each network’s internal metrics.
What it does not measure, and why that distinction matters
Search Console does not replace Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube analytics. It explains what happens when social content appears across Google surfaces; it does not show the platform’s full native distribution or replace indicators such as retention, internal views, interactions, followers or community health.
Nor does it prove that a query caused a sale, or that repeating a word in copy guarantees more visibility. Search data includes filters, privacy thresholds and coverage differences. It is a source for developing and prioritising hypotheses, not a perfect attribution machine.
This boundary matters in reporting: native social performance, discovery from Google and business outcomes should remain clearly identified as different layers, even when they are read together.
Google Business Profile completes the local dimension
For businesses with a shop, office, venue, restaurant or local service, a decisive part of the journey may not involve a landing page. It happens across Google Search and Maps. Google Business Profile performance ↗ can show searches, views, website clicks, calls, direction requests, bookings and other interactions available for a given business type.
Google Analytics can also link to Google Business Profile and display aggregated local-presence metrics. Separately, Analytics can link to Search Console to relate organic queries and landing pages to subsequent behaviour on the website.
This is not one magical dashboard. These are different sources with their own permissions, time windows and definitions. The useful work lies in agreeing what each indicator means, which decision it can support and what remains outside the analysis.
From a query to a landing page: the journey to reconstruct
A query is more than a keyword. It expresses a need, a level of knowledge and a moment in the decision process. Social content can open the door, but the landing page must continue the promise.
| Search signal | Content discovered | Useful destination | Possible decision |
|---|---|---|---|
| “how to solve…” | Educational video or carousel | Guide, FAQ or article | Learn and continue exploring |
| “service for… businesses” | Expert post or profile | Service landing page | Compare approaches and make contact |
| “brand + city” | Social profile or local listing | Google Business Profile or local landing page | Call, visit or request directions |
| “alternatives to…” | Comparison or case | Case study, method or catalogue | Reduce risk before deciding |
If content answers a question but sends people to a generic homepage, discovery loses momentum. If the landing page makes a different promise from the post, trust is broken. And if a query reveals a recurring need with no dedicated page, it may point to a genuine editorial or commercial opportunity.
The AI Websites service works on this continuity across architecture, brand, content, SEO, data and conversion. A landing page should not be created because a query appeared once, but because there is sufficient demand, strategic fit and capacity to answer it well.
How content planning should change
New data is useful when it changes a decision. A team can turn queries into a shared cycle:
- Group questions by intent. Do not chase every isolated phrase; identify themes, problems, categories, places and moments of purchase.
- Compare web and social. Find out whether a question leads to a post, a video, a landing page or several assets that reinforce one another.
- Improve the destination. Strengthen the title, explanation, evidence, frequently asked questions or call to action on the page receiving the visit.
- Adapt the content. Create a new version, a more specific video, a short answer or a local piece from a signal that has already shown interest.
- Measure the next step. Observe whether discovery results in a useful visit, a local interaction, an enquiry or a defined conversion.
The Social Media OS gives this cycle structure: editorial territories, voice, sources, calendar, processes, metrics and responsibilities. Social Listening adds what the brand, competitors and communities are saying beyond the queries already reaching the organisation’s own assets.
Discovery is one strategy
SEO helps a page to be crawled, understood and found. Social search shows how social content and profiles also enter search journeys. GEO extends the question: how is the brand interpreted and represented in generative answers, and which sources support that representation?
Consistency across a landing page, a social profile, a local listing and an external source helps people —and systems retrieving information— understand who the brand is, what it offers and in which context. But it does not guarantee a citation, recommendation or position. That is why the AI visibility, GEO and AEO service combines the website, Search Console, Analytics, content, entities, reputation and controlled testing without presenting any one tool as a complete monitor.
A new reporting block: Social & Search Insights
Instead of adding a list of metrics to the end of a social media report, we propose a block that explains the journey and ends with decisions. It can contain four layers:
- Demand: queries, groups of questions and relevant changes.
- Discovery: social content, videos, profiles and pages gaining or losing visibility on Google.
- Destination: landing pages, local listings and journeys receiving that attention.
- Action: useful clicks, calls, direction requests, forms or conversions that can be measured with an agreed definition.
Every chart should state its source, period and limitations. If data is unavailable, it remains pending; it is not estimated and presented as fact. The AI Analytics service is designed to connect sources and definitions without confusing correlation, attribution and causation.
How Karmina connects it to services and agents
Social search analysis is not a new discipline in isolation. It can activate capabilities that already exist within Karmina AI Studio:
- Social Media OS: organises the strategy, sources, processes and measurement system.
- Social Listening: broadens the view with conversations, reputation, competitors and trends.
- Always-On Social AI: turns learning into an ongoing operation for content, review and improvement.
- AI Websites and landing pages: create or improve the destinations that should answer each intent.
- GEO and AEO: connect searches with entities, sources and visibility in generative answers.
- Analytics: joins discovery to the actions the organisation considers valuable.
Agents such as SEO Monitor, Social Listener and Dashboard Builder can accelerate collection, change detection and report preparation. Prioritisation and editorial or commercial decisions still need a responsible person.
A prudent way to start in ninety days
The first quarter should not begin with a huge dashboard. It should establish a baseline that the team can understand and maintain.
- Audit the configuration. Verify properties, profiles, GA4, tagging, destination pages and the minimum permissions required.
- Define the dictionary. Agree what counts as an impression, discovery, local interaction, useful visit and conversion.
- Select a pilot. Choose one service, editorial territory or location with enough activity to observe a complete journey.
- Create the first loop. Turn two or three relevant queries into content or landing-page improvements and document the hypothesis.
- Review the outcome. Compare periods, check data quality and decide what to maintain, expand, correct or stop.
Access should be proportional to the task and revocable. Verifying a property or linking a product does not justify indiscriminate control over every channel. Governance is part of analytics too.
From measuring posts to understanding discovery
The main opportunity in social search is not adding more numbers to the report. It is understanding the question that existed before the click and ensuring the brand has a coherent answer afterwards.
When queries, social content, landing pages, local presence and conversions share one connected reading, the team can stop asking only “what performed?” and start deciding what the market needs, which answer we should offer and which journey we should improve.
If you want to establish this baseline and turn it into an actionable content, visibility and analytics system, let’s talk.
